Hell! What Do You Think Of It?

One day on a ship a group of sailors gathered around their chaplain to ask him an important question . This is what they asked him: "Do you believe there is a hell?" The chaplain’s reply was: "no" This is what the sailors replied back: "We do not need you then. If there is a hell we want to know about it, if there is not one we do not need you, you are fired."

Who are you in this story, are you the chaplain or one of the sailors? This is what God’s word says about people like the chaplain who deny what the Lord is warning them.

Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye

escape the damnation of hell?

Matthew 23:33

Or are you like the sailors who are seeking and wanting to know more?

For everyone that asketh receiveth;

and he that seeketh findeth; and to him

that knocketh it shall be opened.

Luke 11:10

I pray you will not be like the sailors and ask a religious man like the chaplain or make up a way for yourself, but look in the bible, and God will show you the way.

Maybe you are someone that believes hell is on earth how sadly mistaken you are for the ones that reject the Lord, God tells us this is the judgement:

And the smoke of their torment ascendeth

up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day

nor night,... (Rev. 14:11)

Are you willing to shrug your shoulders at this verse from God and say it’s not true. Take a moment and think about it. What if it is true, then what? Or maybe you think that people are burnt up as soon as they land in hell, listen to this verse:

Even as Sodom and Gomorrah...suffering

the vengeance of eternal fire.

Jude. 7

For all seek their own, not the things which are

Jesus Christ’s (Phillipians 2:21)

I remember one day when I was in the basement of my families home. I was carrying my little sister around showing her stuff, she was happy and enjoying herself. Then as I went to return upstairs I checked the furnace door to make sure that it was securely shut. As soon as I touched the door my sister cried. "I don’t want to see the fire!"

Will you cry this cry? Or perhaps the big question is, when will you cry , will you be like the rich man in Luke 16?

And in hell he lifted up his eyes being in torments...

And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me,

and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in

water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

Luke 16: 23,24

Or will you be like the Philippian jailor in Acts 16?

...Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

Acts 16:30

Can you realize you are a sinner on the way to hell and be like the Philippian jailor?

...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou

shalt be saved,...

Acts 16:31

What a dreadful thing to land in eternity without a Saviour.

It is a fearful thing to fall into the

hands of the living God.

Hebrews 10:31

I can hear you saying now, God is a god of love he’d never send anyone to hell. My friend he warns you once again in Revelations.

And whosoever was not found written

in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Revelations 20:15

God is a loving God but a holy God also. He sent his Son to die for you and now there is a way provided and if you land in hell you are condemning yourself for God says:

For god sent not his Son into the

world to condemn the world; but that

the world through him might be saved.

He that believeth on him is not condemned:

but he that believeth not is condemned

already, because he hath not believed in the

name of the only begotten Son of God.

John 3:17,18

Trust him now or be like the gambler and gamble your life away until at the end you realize you have lost.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God,...

2 Timothy 3:16

"Almost persuaded"; harvest is past.

"Almost persuaded"; doom comes at last.

"Almost" cannot avail,

"Almost" is but to fail,

Sad, sad that bitter wail,

"Almost," but lost.

Will your cry be, "Almost but lost", or will it be, "I’m only a sinner saved by grace"?
