Led By His Hand
The Reason For The Name
Many people will ask me “Why the name ‘Led by His Hand’, why not something
like ‘led by His voice’ or something else?”
When I was younger and thinking of making a website and login names, I wanted
something that was different, that glorified my Saviour, yet showed my need of
Him. I chose the name that I use today, because it gives me the feeling of
someone that is comfortably helping someone along.
Get the image of a little child being led safely by his or her father through a
busy shopping centre. The security that child has of not getting lost is that
Dad has his or her hand.
That is the same type of comfort I have. To know the Saviour, has my hand. My
Salvation is through Him, and as I walk through this life, my rest and security
is through Him, one who is leading me by His hand.
Some verses that can add to this are:
Psalm 95:7 ¶ For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and
the sheep of his hand.
Here we can see that we are the sheep of his hand. His hand is watching over us.
There are many aspects to the hand of God.
They can be:
Power
Psalm 95: 4 In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of
the hills is his also
God’s hand represents power. One verse that can be given is that by His hand he
can hold all creation into place
Judgment:
Job 19:21 Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the
hand of God hath touched me.
Job could express the fact that God’s hand represents judgment as well.
Guidance:
Psalm 95:7 ¶ For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and
the sheep of his hand.
The psalmist can picture us as sheep, sheep need to be led, and we are the sheep
of His hand, He is the one leading us.
Security
Job 6:9 Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let
loose his hand, and cut me off!
Even though God’s hand can cause judgment, yet at the same time it provides
security for the believer of God. For surely without the hand of God upon us, we
would have no hope
Deliverance
God shows his ability in many ways, but here below are listed just a small
number of things where we see the hand of God working in our own experience.
The Hand that delivers from discouragement
In Matthew we have the doubt of Peter. If we ever get discouraged, we are
comforted to know that the hand of God will catch us.
Matthew 14:31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught
him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
The Hand That Heals
We have the comfort in Luke 5 that God’s hand can heal. God healed us, He took
our place at Calvary
Luke 5: 13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be
thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
The Hand That Delivers Us From Our Foes
Psalm 78 is referring to the fact that when God’s hand is upon us, He can
deliver us from any form of evil
Psalm 78:42 They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them
from the enemy
The hand That Provides Strength
Ezra shows that God’s hand represents strength to the believer. God provides us
strength to continue on a daily basis and in His work.
Ezr 7:28 And hath extended mercy unto me before the king, and his
counsellors, and before all the king's mighty princes. And I was strengthened as
the hand of the LORD my God was upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel
chief men to go up with me.
The hand That Cleans
In Isaiah we see God’s hand as the cleansing hand. Because of the hand of God we
have been cleared from the curse of sin, made ready for heaven.
Isa 1:25 And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy
dross, and take away all thy tin:
One of the greatest Christian singers we ever had, named George Younce, could sing a song titled “Led by The Master’s Hand” as he could fully grasp as well, of how great it is to be in the hands of the Almighty Creator -- our -- my Saviour!
So I enjoy telling people I am led by His hand, for there is no greater hand to
be led by then His. There is none other that can carry me through this scene of
time, and into eternity to be with Him for ever.
